Worker's Compensation
Worker's
Compensation-Injuries
at
work
can
be caused by specific injuries or
gradual wear and tear due to heavy or repetitive jobs. These claims are
handled by a special administrative court unlike Circuit Court. Mike
has been a member of this "club" for 30 years. The judges know him, as
do the insurance adjusters and defense lawyers. Recent Supreme Court
decisions have made this area of the law complicated. This is not the
claim for the criminal or real estate attorney. It also requires good
knowledge of medicine, which general practice lawyers do not have. Mike
does. Many doctors up north refer clients to him, and he also handles
Social Security
Disability cases. This area of the law requires medical knowledge. Mike
attends these hearings in Traverse City, Alpena, Flint, and Sault Ste.
Marie. Often Worker's Compensation or car accident injuries involve a
potential social security claim. Why have more than one lawyer?
Negligence

Injury or death can result from
carelessness of another person or corporation, a dog bite, a work
injury, or car accident. Someone may owe you damages. When
shopping for an attorney, ask them if they represent defendants or
insurance companies. Ask if they do general legal practice work.
You need an attorney that only
specializes in representing the injured
people, which is all Mike does. Over a 30-year career, Mike has
recovered over $10 million dollars in negligence and no fault
benefits. His most recent jury verdict was $730,000.

No
Fault
(Auto
Claims)
Michigan's complicated No Fault Law
severely restricts recovery for pain and suffering to only the most
severe auto injuries or scars. Recently the Supreme Court has limited
them even further. However, all injured auto accident victims are
entitled to medical and wage-loss benefits regardless of fault in the
accident. The wage-loss benefit is 85% of your gross pay for up to
three years from the time of the accident. Medical benefits, including
Attendant Care and Replacement Services are also payable. Usually, your
own car insurance has priority to pay these benefits. You have 1 year
from the accident to make a claim for these losses.
